Muller and Lewandowski Score at Camp Nou for Bayern to Win 0-3
The hosts, Barcelona, were looking for vengeance after losing 8-2 to the same opponents, Bayern Munich, in the 2019-20 quarterfinals.
But even in an away match, Bayern proved far too strong in the Group E opener between the two heavyweights.
Muller opened the scoring in Barcelona’s humiliating defeat 13 months ago, and he did so again here in this opener.
He sent in a goal at 34 minutes in the first half at Camp Nou. And then, Lewandowski’s simple finish gave Bayern breathing room early in the second half with a 0-2 tally.
Late in the second half, Lewandowski doubled his tally late in the game to seal a routine win.
This victory moves the German champions to the top of the Group E table after the first round of fixtures.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are at the bottom after a goalless draw between Dynamo Kyiv and Benfica gave each team one point.
