A major scandal has erupted around Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, writes Marca in football live today. Apparently, the Real Madrid president spoke some harsh words about his Real employees/players Raul and Iker Casillas. And this Perez’s diss on Raul and Casillas has been leaked.
Real Madrid believe that there is a deliberate campaign waging against Perez, which is aiming to destroy his image.
The club further believes that Super League opponents are the instigators behind this scandal. Indeed, they think that these rival clubs are the source of the publication of Perez’s words.
To quickly refresh your memory, Perez is one of the main campaigners for the failed European Super League project.
In April, 12 clubs announced the creation of the breakaway tournament. Just two days later, however, given the serious public outcry, 9 clubs announced their withdrawal from the Super League.
But Real Madrid, under Perez’s jurisdiction, along with Juventus and Barcelona, still swear by the project and it’s possible launching.
Indeed, Perez has repeatedly stated that the failure to launch the Super League has not discouraged him. He has claimed that he won’t abandon his plans to create it any time soon.
Now though, Perez may be paying the price for his somewhat arrogant championing of a lost cause. The clubs that have already withdrawn may have leaked sensitive quotes of his.
Perez’s Diss on Raul and Casillas Has Been Leaked
Today, the newspaper El Confidencial published words which the manager said at a meeting in September 2006.
In particular, Perez said: “Raul and Casillas are two of the greatest swindlers in the history of Real Madrid.”
