Sampdoria won a 1-3 victory away from Udinese, despite the hosts leading in the initial period of the match.
It was Udinese who started the scoring when Kevin Lasagna charged on to a long shot. Appearing to force Yoshida out of the way, he pushed it forward and smashed it about 25 yards into the goal.
Sampdoria was annoyed by this build-up, wanting it to be cancelled as a foul. But the referee saw it and deemed it to be fine.
Anyway, Sampdoria evened up by the last kick of the first half coming from Fabio Quagliarella.
As Albin Ekdal chested the ball down with his back to goal, Quagliarella struck the low volley from just inside the field.
Returning to the line-up and scoresheet, Quagliarella thus helped Sampdoria on their way to victory.
Udinese came out fighting for the second half, though.
First, Emil Audero produced a brilliant saving from a knocked-down corner at the far post with his hands on Kevin Lasagna. Then Rodrigo De Paul’s side-foot finish from the edge of the field skimmed the crossbar.
But Federico Bonazzoli changed the game around in true style, when Samir just deflected a pass into the distance, sending it in with a perfect bicycle-kick from eight yards.
When Audero committed a howler at the corner, punching it straight at Bram Nuytinck to ricochet into the net, Udinese thought they were finally equalizing.
But he punched it on the arm of the Udinese player, and under the new rules this is sufficient to disallow the goal.
Taking advantage of a weak Nuytinck clearing, Gabbiadini brought the points under lock and key with a left-foot curler into the far corner.
