Tammy Abraham left his boyhood club, Chelsea, for Roma after being with the club for 17 years. Since his move to the Italian capital, the striker has been tearing apart Serie A defences and is among the top scorers in the league.
Having signed with Roma for a £34 million fee last summer, Chelsea have a buyback clause that could come into effect in 2023. However various reports suggest clubs like Arsenal are already on the lookout for Tammy’s services.
Abraham has recently appeared in an interview with the Atletic in which he had revealed he was inspired by former Chelsea men De Bruyne, Salah and Lukaku.
“I’ve seen the likes of De Bruyne, Salah and Lukaku leave Chelsea and spread their wings. They’re the best players in the world,” Tammy Abraham said.
“For me, it’s about doing the same thing and even if it’s not the Premier League. It’s about going out and learning a different culture and experiencing different things.
“It’s about saying, ‘you know what, this is my time.
“[I spoke with England manager Gareth Southgate] a few times towards the back end of last season, just explaining what I was going through and my mental state and he helped me a lot and gave me good advice.
“He said, ‘listen, do the best you can for you, build yourself back up. And hopefully next season you’ll be playing again’. Those words helped me a lot.”
