The Belgian football association KBVB officially started the search for a new national coach this Tuesday, with the posting of a vacancy. The successor to Roberto Martínez must be a trainer ‘who knows what winning is’. As can be read in the vacancy text.
Martínez had been with the Belgian national team for the group since 2016. And announced his retirement after the inglorious elimination at the World Cup in Qatar. The Spaniard, who was also technical director in addition to national coach, had an expiring contract with the KBVB. The Belgian federation is now looking for a successor for Martínez.
Even after the early elimination at the World Cup in Qatar, the RBFA remains very ambitious for the future. “All the elements are there to remain successful in the future. It’s up to the new national coach to get started and lead us to new successes,” they stated.
Interested trainers can submit their CV until January 10th. “The RBFA is looking for a full-time national coach. Who knows what winning is like,” we read in the vacancy text. “The new national coach is resolutely ambitious and has the necessary international experience at the top level, football tactical knowledge and insights as well as the right personal skills. He is a serial winner with experience in managing top players, knows how to bet on creating a close-knit group and how to integrate young players. The football association is looking for a tactical expert who supports its choices with data, technology and objective parameters and makes use of the sporting expertise and structure of the RBFA.”
A specially created task force will get to work on the registrations. The task force will nominate the final candidate from the list of candidates. To the board of directors of the RBFA, the Belgian federation previously reported. In Belgium, there are calls to approach Louis van Gaal, after he recently said goodbye to the Dutch national team.
