At UFC 276, Israel Adesanya successfully defended his middleweight title, while featherweight Alexander Volkanovski defeated rival Max Holloway on points.
Adesanya used his height and reach advantages expertly against Jared Cannonier, controlling the distance with a ramrod jab and vicious leg kicks at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The New Zealander won by unanimous decision with scores of 49-46, 49-46, and 50-45 to retain his title for the fifth time – and then called out Alex Pereira in the octagon.
Pereira of Brazil, who defeated Adesanya in kickboxing twice in 2016 and 2017, knocked out Sean Strickland on the undercard.
“We know who’s next,” said Adesanya. “Next time I put you on skates, you’re going to get frozen like Elsa.”
