NBA Fans: Against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, the LA Lakers finally recorded their first victory of the 2022–23 campaign. With the victory, fans were elated, and Twitter erupted with comments.
One of the clubs with the worst early-season records has been the LA Lakers. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook are all part of the Purple and Gold’s star-studded lineup, but they haven’t been able to make an effect.
The Lakers surely found a way to disappoint once again as they opened the season with a 0-5 record, despite the fact that this was a tendency that continued from the previous year.
This, however, didn’t last long as the LA Lakers quickly turned the tables on their conference rivals, the Denver Nuggets, by coming out swinging. They triumphed 121-110, their first victory under head coach Darvin Ham.
NBA Fans all across the world paid close attention to the Lakers’ victory. They responded in a variety of ways, and we looked at some of them on Twitter.
The top ones are as follows:
George Mikan, a founding member of the team, experienced a historic moment during the game. On Sunday, his jersey number was finally retired. The Los Angeles Lakers organisation recognised Mikan by hanging the number 99 from the rafters after an outstanding career that produced five championships in the early years of the NBA.
Pau Gasol, a former LA Lakers great, joined Mikan in the crowd for the game against the Denver Nuggets in honour of Mikan’s jersey retirement. The Purple and Gold were able to put on a show for the home audience despite the presence of so many luminaries in the building.
With the victory, the Lakers have at last made a step in the right path. The season may turn around at this point, but only time will tell.
