NBA News: When the Milwaukee Bucks play the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, Khris Middleton is expected to make his season debut after recovering from an injury.
Middleton is scheduled to make his first appearance since suffering a wrist injury in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference playoff series against the Boston Celtics last season, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday.
Middleton missed Milwaukee’s first 20 games of the new season after undergoing offseason surgery to repair torn ligaments in July.
After a 9-0 start to the year, the Bucks would be 15-5 and second in the East behind Boston when he made his comeback. They had won four of their previous five games.
Middleton averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game last season, earning him his third All-Star nod. However, he was a glaring absence in the playoff game against the Celtics.
He had been a standout during the Bucks’ championship run the season before, averaging 20.4 points per game, 5.4 assists, and six rebounds per game in addition to scoring 32 points in the pivotal Game 6 of their Conference Finals matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, 40 points in Game 4 of the Finals against the Phoenix Suns, and crucial baskets down the stretch in Game 6 to help his team win the long-awaited NBA championship.
His presence is expected to improve a defence that is already the best in the league and help Milwaukee’s offence, which is now ranked 18th.
