Marie-Eve Dicaire: When Natasha Jonas and Marie-Eve Dicaire square off in a WBC, WBO, and IBF championship unification on November 12, Marie-Eve Dicaire hopes to demonstrate that Jonas has no business competing in the super-welterweight division.
Jonas, from Liverpool, who had previously competed at the super-feather and lightweight weight classes, moved up three weight classes to win the world title at 154 pounds.
When Jonas defeated Patricia Berghult in her very next match, she successfully defended both her WBO and WBC championships.
Dicaire, on the other hand, has competed for six world titles and has been boxing at the super-welterweight level since 2017.
Berghult lacks my strength. I’m pleased and I’m strong,” she declared. “Natasha Jonas is a cunning combatant; she can box both indoors and outdoors. For this bout, I believe the weight will be a problem.
“Let’s see if they’re too huge and powerful. But I’m confident that this will work to my advantage. I’ll put it to use.
She intends to look for a way out. I am prepared to utilise every tool at my disposal to win this battle.
“I am confident that she is a skilled fighter and will be able to adjust. That’s good since I can do that as well. Consequently, it will be a lot of fun.
Despite being strong for her weight, Dicaire has only triumphed within the distance in one of her 19 matches.
Both she and Jonas defeated Chris Namus to win their opening title bouts. While Dicaire defeated Namus over the course of 10 rounds in 2018, Jonas defeated Namus in just two rounds in February of this year with an explosive finish. \
Dicaire said, “It was pretty stunning. “She [Namus] didn’t take the battle seriously perhaps because of the short notice.
“In this battle, I’m going to throw away more adversity.”
There has been much talk about Jonas perhaps facing Claressa Shields, the current middleweight champion and former undisputed super-welterweight champion. But Dicaire urged people not to disregard her as a rival.
She does business as usual, but all that counts to me is the fight I have scheduled for November 12,” Dicaire added. On November 12, she will need to go via me first.
Shields defeated Dicaire over the course of 10 rounds in Flint, giving the Canadian her first defeat in her professional career. Shields won handily, but Dicaire claims that fighting professionally has improved her.
