Parker vs Joyce: Joseph Parker has gained so much confidence from training with Tyson Fury that he believes he will defeat Joe Joyce.
At the Manchester Arena on Saturday, Parker and Joyce will square off for the WBO’s “Interim” heavyweight championship.
In Fury’s Morecambe gym, the New Zealander has been getting ready for the fight with trainer Andy Lee.
“It’s been fantastic. Tyson does make time to be in our sessions when he can,” Parker told Sky Sports.
“You’re only going to improve as a fighter and get better having someone like Tyson around, with the confidence that he comes in with, positivism, pushing you and motivating everyone.”
Parker can only gain from having the best heavyweight in the world as a coach. David Higgins, the manager of the New Zealander, stated: “Tyson’s got the greatest self-belief of just about anyone in sport and he’s a very straight shooter, he doesn’t sugar-coat things.”
Parker and Fury have only ever exchanged body blows. That’s difficult, Parker said. “We give each other the hardest body blows we can. We haven’t engaged in full-contact sparring yet.
“I’d love to test myself against him one day. I’m not sure we’ll ever fight because we’re that close, he’s been very generous, very good to me. He’s helped me, looked after me and done so much for me I feel like his brother.”
Joseph Parker, who is renowned for his quick hands and quickness, thinks he can stop and harm Joyce for the first time in a professional bout. Even though Joyce is harsh, he contends that the Londoner fires too many shots.
Instead of knocking out, Joyce might not want to try to outbox. Joyce moves with the scary speed of a heavyweight. He is strong and tenacious.
