WBC Bridgerweight Title: In Poland, Lucasz Rozanski stopped Alen Babic in the first round to win the vacant WBC bridgerweight title.
When Babic and Rozanski faced up at the G2A Arena in the latter’s hometown of Rzeszow, they promised a collision of unrestrained savagery.
They succeeded in doing so, however, the conflict was resolved more rapidly than anticipated.
At the first bell, both fighters launched themselves from their corners in an effort to unleash their biggest blows, but Rozanski was the first to connect.
‘The Savage’ was stung by a right cross from Rozanski as they collided head-on in the heart of the ring.
He ploughed into the Croatian while continuing to go forward as Babic threw vicious blows at him.
Rozanski, though, immediately asserted his physicality by delivering and landing painful punches. His left hook doubled, grabbing Babic’s chin and shaking him.
Close up once more, Babic was nearly knocked off his feet by Rozanski’s left hook that swept into his chin. The Savage was attempting to get his legs back under him so that he could hold for a brief period of time before attempting to counterpunch.
Rozanski knocked him to the ground after opening him up for further assault.
Babic stood up with a firm resolve. But he was unable to stop Rozanski’s furious barrage of fire.
After being struck flush with a right, the Pole began to batter him against the ropes. After two minutes and ten seconds of mayhem, the referee stepped in to stop the fighting. Babic had attempted to lift his gloves and block the punches, but both efforts had failed.
As the hometown favourite won the vacant WBC bridgerweight belt, the G2A Arena erupted in celebration.
To bridge the gap between today’s enormous heavyweights and cruiserweights, a weight class called bridgerweight was established at 224 pounds. The division was established by the WBC, which also serves as its sole sanctioning body.
The division was given the name Bridger Walker after the American child who, in 2020, while visiting Wyoming, rescued his younger sister from a dog attack and later sustained bite wounds.
