Nagpur Test: India defeated Australia by innings and 132 runs in the opening Test to take a 1-0 series lead.
The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s first Test was a crushing defeat for the Australian squad. Australia faced team India and received the turning wicket they anticipated, but they were still unable to handle Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and skipper Rohit Sharma’s powerful innings.
Former Australian cricketer Stuart Clark has commented on the Aussies’ performance in the first Test against India following their devastating defeat. Clark also considered how Australia was unprepared for the circumstances in the subcontinent.
“We discussed this before the first episode of the series, but I believe the thing that bugs me the most about it all is: were they as prepared as they could be? And if you speak to anyone on the street, the broad view is that no, they weren’t,” Clark stated during the Big Sports Breakfast on Sky Sports Radio.
“No tour game, no practise game, show there… and were thoroughly defeated in a way that left fans feeling unhappy. Whatever you want to say, they were smoked. India is a fairly excellent squad in their own country, but I don’t believe they were adequately prepared, “Added he.
Australia will seek to alter their strategy for the second Test.
Team India defeated the Australians by an inning and 132 runs as a result of the outstanding efforts of Rohit Sharma, Jadeja, Ashwin, and Axar Patel. Australia will be hoping that things go their way this time when both teams square off in Delhi for the second Test on February 17.
Time will tell if that results in cutting some players or adopting a whole different strategy. Since Jadeja and Ashwin were the bowlers who largely destroyed Australia’s batting attack, they’ll need to figure out how to counter India’s spin attack. On February 17, both sides will compete in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
