BBL 2022-23: In an unexpected move, England Test opener Zak Crawley joined Hobart Hurricanes as an overseas replacement before the 2022–23 Big Bash League season (BBL). In January, following England’s three-match Test series against Pakistan, Crawley will join the team. Shadab Khan, an all-rounder for Pakistan, will be replaced by the 24-year-old because he will miss some games due to international obligations.
Crawley will also be playing in his first T20 match outside of Australia, but given his success there, the opener is optimistic about his chances. Crawley won over several former cricketers during the Ashes match in Australia last time around, notably Ricky Ponting, who praised Crawley during the Sydney Test.
Crawley, who has a great track record in T20s, can take advantage of this chance to establish himself in the quickest format and join the England T20I team. Crawley has scored 1284 runs at a strike rate of 145.08 in 47 T20 games thus far.
To participate in the Big Bash for the first time makes me very happy: Crawley
Crawley expressed his excitement at joining Hurricanes ahead of the upcoming BBL season and expressed his hope for a fruitful summer in Australia.
Taking part in the Big Bash for the first time excites me greatly. From a distance, the Hurricanes appear to have an abundance of talent, both in terms of the team they have assembled for success on the field and the calibre of support staff they have on it. After joining the team, the English cricketer said, “I’m looking forward to participating in what I hope will be a very successful summer.
According to a statement from the Hobart Hurricanes, “Zak Crawley is ready to make his Big Bash League debut with the Hobart Hurricanes, after being named as an international replacement player for the Hobart Hurricanes.”
