England’s great all-rounder Ben Stokes has accelerated his comeback after suffering a finger injury in the first leg of the IPL 2021 in April. Stokes has been out of action since July when he decided to take an indefinite vacation from cricket in order to prioritise his mental health and rehabilitate him from a bothersome finger injury.
On social media, the daring all-rounder shared a video of himself bowling during an indoor training session. A few days ago, the 30-year-old released a video of himself batting at indoor nets during private batting practice. Ben Stokes recently disclosed that he was able to properly wield a bat for the first time in six months.

“It’s casual clothes training on a Thursday,” Stokes captioned his post. This was usually my first ball back, and this is what happened. Then there’s some checking to make sure I don’t break my toe. Then I finally hit a good one. It feels great to be back striking balls.”

Stokes attempted a comeback in the summer after undergoing surgery, and he also captained a second-string England side in an ODI series win over Pakistan. He later admitted, though, that he was in “terrible pain” throughout the series and has not played for England since. Stokes subsequently had a second surgery on his wounded finger, and his recuperation has been going well since then.
Notably, Stokes was not named to England’s Ashes squad, which was released earlier this month and will face Australia in five Tests later this year. However, if the all-rounder can reach full health in the coming months, he might be included in England’s Ashes squad. Stokes’ recent video has generated expectations among England fans that he may be called up to the national team.
The Ashes series will begin in Australia on December 8.
