CPL 2022: At Queen’s Park Oval in St. Clair on Thursday, the BARBADOS Royals suffered their first loss in the 2022 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 competition, losing by six runs using the Duckworth-Lewis method to the Jamaica Tallawahs.
Tallawahs were 126/5 after 17 overs, needing 147 to win when the rain came to the oval for the second time in the game and stopped play. The Tallawahs were given victory as a consequence.
With six victories and one loss, the Royals remain in first place among the six teams. Tallawahs are a close second.
Tallawahs got off to a fast start to openers Brandon King and Amir Jangoo, who put up 53 for the first wicket in 4.3 overs.
Jangoo was initially fired after making 29 off of 18 deliveries. Tallawahs were led to a score of 99 by King and Shamarh Brooks before continuous wicket-taking left the Jamaican team at 116/5 after 16.1 overs.
When play was halted due to rain, captain Rovman Powell (12) and Imad Wasim (3) were present.
The two fastest bowlers for the Royals, Jason Holder and Obed McCoy, were the main scorers. McCoy grabbed 2/19 in three overs, and Holder took 3/33 in four.
