Cricket News: After making a major mistake on air during the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 between India and Australia, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has made an effort to make apologies with another ex-Indian batsman Murali Vijay.
The conversation started when the on-air pundits were talking about the success rate of Indian openers in home Test matches. Murali Vijay, a 38-year-old opener, led the list of openers with the best conversion rates at home, surpassing notable figures like Mohammad Azharuddin, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma with a conversion rate of 60%.
It’s fortunate he’s on that list: Sanjay Manjrekar lauds Murali Vijay
When it comes to conversion rates at home, he (Rohit) is currently ranked No. 2 with eight hundred. Murali Vijay’s inclusion on the list is fortunate because we often overlook the efforts that individuals like him to make. When Rohit Sharma got his ninth Test century after lunch, the 57-year-old remarked, “A brilliant conversion rate right at the top, with 12 Test hundreds, nine of them at home.
Vijay responded to Manjrekar’s original remarks on the microblogging platform Twitter before making his remarks on the broadcast.
Some Mumbai ex players can never be appreciative of the south ! #showsomelove #equality #fairplayforall @sanjaymanjrekar@BCCI

Manjrekar brought up the subject once more, this time praising Murali Vijay and lamenting how contributions from such players are frequently overlooked. Despite not outright apologising, Manjrekar seemed dignified enough to own his error live on air and accord Murali Vijay the respect he so richly deserved.
The entire ordeal was started with a graphic representation of the highest conversion rates at home. Here is the article:
It’s vital to note that Manjrekar has engaged in such altercations with cricket players before. The former cricketer-turned-pundit and Ravindra Jadeja got into a fight at the 2019 ODI World Cup when the commentator referred to the all-rounder as “A Bits and Pieces Player.”

Sanjay Manjrekar had criticised Virat Kohli and management’s decision to field all-rounders rather than specialists.
Ravindra Jadeja expressed his displeasure with Manjrekar’s remarks by writing on his Twitter account, “Even so, I’ve played twice as many matches as you have and I’m still going. Accomplished people should be respected. It’s enough of your verbal diarrhoea, I’m sorry.”
Still i have played twice the number of matches you have played and i m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved.i have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea.@sanjaymanjrekar
