Cricket News: Fast bowlers dominated the era in which Dale Steyn played. In the last decade and a half, Test match totals below 400, batter averages below 40, and matches lasting less than four days have been the norm. A number of variables may have contributed to this, including the rising popularity of T20 cricket, which has resulted in batters’ technique errors, but the quality of fast bowling remains the most significant. Steyn was one of the crop’s leading lights, tormenting batters all over the world and, more often than not, removing circumstances from the equation.
Steyn was one of the best fast bowlers to ever play the game, with an athlete-like run-up, a clean approach to the bowling crease, and a motion that provided a natural outswing. The fact that he was as adept with the old ball, frequently reversing it, made things even more difficult for the batters.
With a 22.95 average in 93 Tests, the former South African speedster is one of the most prolific match-winners. Injuries hampered him at the end of his career, although he could have joined the 500-club alongside James Anderson, Glenn McGrath, Stuart Broad, and Courtney Walsh.
It’s difficult to believe Steyn is capable of anything other than quick bowling, but the former right-arm seamer has often demonstrated that he is equally adept at social media.
When a fan replied to Steyn’s tweet, suggesting that India’s Jasprit Bumrah is a better fast bowler than him, Steyn’s funny side came to the fore once more.
Steyn responded with an outlandish response: “I’m sure he is, I’m retired.”
Bumrah is better than you.

Bumrah has quickly established himself as India’s go-to pacer in all three formats of the game since making his debut in Australia in 2015. The right-arm pacer, who is now playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022, has shown early signs of being an all-time great, although comparisons to Steyn may be premature.
Steyn, who played 93 Tests, 125 One-Day Internationals, and 47 Twenty-20 Internationals for South Africa during a spectacular career that saw him take close to 700 international wickets, announced his retirement in August last year.
In the IPL, Steyn also played for the Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
