Cricket Superstar Smriti Mandhana: Mandhana was just recently named one of five new ICC 100% Cricket Superstars, and based on her recent batting efforts, it appears that the talented 26-year-old has been inspired by that news.
In the most recent three-game T20I series, Mandhana led India in runs scored. The left-hander followed it up with another Player of the Match performance in the ODI series opener in Hove.
Cricket Superstar Smriti Mandhana narrowly missed scoring her sixth ODI century for her nation, but she helped India beat England’s challenging total of 227/7 with more than five overs to spare with a stunning 91 from just 99 deliveries.
Mandhana played a patient innings with Yastika Bhatia (50) as the pair put up 96 for the second wicket to put their team in command. Mandhana lost fellow opener Shafali Verma (1) in just the second over of the chase.
Bhatia was out in the 18th over, but Mandhana maintained her composure and worked brilliantly with veteran captain Harmanpreet Kaur (74*), ensuring India won the first game of the series.
Mandhana’s outstanding performance, which included ten fours and a towering six, provided an insight into why she was included on the most recent list of ICC 100% Cricket Superstars released in August.
She made the list alongside Fatima Sana of Pakistan, Ashleigh Gardner of Australia, Sophia Dunkley of England, and Gaby Lewis of Ireland.
