Cricket West Indies: In line with how the West Indies men’s team is being treated, the women’s cricket squad will now fly in business class and be provided with single rooms to stay in. The Cricket West Indies (CWI) decision is a crucial one in the effort to change how women’s cricket has been seen up to this point.
The decision about the West Indies women was made during the most recent CWI board of directors meetings following the election of Kishore Shallow as the new president, taking into mind the ongoing progress. Shallow also thinks that CWI has to set the example for achieving equality in the sport by keeping up with other cricket organisations across the world.
The committee’s task will not only be to recommend certain tactics for generating interest but also to take the initiative in planning events and tournaments to encourage competition in the game of women’s cricket.
The CWI was quoted by ESPN Cricinfo as saying, “The committee’s mandate will include but not be limited to recommending strategies geared towards increasing the interest and participation of women and girls in the sport, as well as proposing cricket competitions, events, and pathways that foster competitive women’s and girls’ cricket.”

Wavell Hinds, president and chief executive officer of the West Indies Players Association, stated that the organisation is aiming to meet the same goals that CWI has suggested. Hinds also brought up the MOU, which has a four-year time limit set forth by both parties.
Hinds stated, “We look forward to achieving similar goals in our ongoing discussions regarding the extension of our Memorandum of Understanding for an additional four years.”
In the months of June and June, West Indies Women will face Ireland, and in the months of October and November, they will travel to Australia and play three ODIs and three T20Is.
