T20 World Cup: After scans revealed a stress fracture in her back, eliminating her chances of competing in the T20 World Cup, England’s Freya Kemp will start rehabilitation with the England Women and Southern Vipers medical teams.
The forthcoming T20 World Cup will not be attended by England all-rounder Freya Kemp due to a stress fracture in her back.
Due to back pain, the 17-year-old missed all three of England’s one-day internationals (ODI) against the West Indies.
She will not compete in the competition in South Africa in February as the result of additional exploratory tests that later identified a stress fracture.
As Freya Kemp starts her recovery with the England Women and Southern Vipers medical staff, there is no estimated time for her comeback.
Her absence comes after Alice Casey’s, who missed the first ODI in the Caribbean due to a broken collarbone.
Since making her international debut against South Africa in July, Kemp has played in nine games, taken eight wickets, and averaged less than eight an over.
She also made a T20I half-century for England against India in September, scoring 51 not out. Later, the PCA and Cricket Writers’ Club named her the Women’s Young Player of the Year.
