Women’s Asia Cup: India thrashed Sri Lanka by 8 wickets on Saturday to win the Women’s Asia Cup for the eighth time. India completed the run chase in nine overs after limiting Sri Lanka to a total of 65/9. The Board of Control for Cricket in India gave a sneak glimpse of the squad’s celebrations in Sylhet after the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team won the championship. The players soon began dancing to jubilant chants, though, and the festivities quickly got out of control.

After being asked to bowl, India put on a commanding performance, reducing Sri Lanka to a pitiful 65 for nine, before chasing down the goal in 8.3 overs.
Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain, scored an undefeated 51.
Earlier, after their skipper made the decision to bat, Sri Lankan hitters collapsed on a track giving turn.
Renuka Singh, an Indian pacer, claimed three wickets for five runs in three overs, and spinners Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Sneh Rana each claimed two wickets.
After the victory, Harmanpreet praised her bowlers and the fielding crew.
“We should give our bowlers credit. From the first ball, our fielding unit was strong, and we talked about not allowing simple runs to come in. At the award ceremony, Harmanpreet remarked, “You have to read the wicket and consequently deploy the fielders in proper spots.
