T20 Blast: For the 2023 T20 Blast season, Leicestershire has re-signed top Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq. Prior to joining Leicestershire, the speedster had two outstanding seasons with 50 wickets from 28 innings at an average of 16.9. With 24 wickets from 14 innings at an average of 16.16 and an economy rate of 7.70, he led Leicestershire in wickets last season.
The right-arm bowler, who is 23 years old, has taken wickets in each of his first four matches for Colombo Stars in the Lanka Premier League 2022. The T20 Blast season of 2023 will begin in May, but the player is already excited for the following year.
After joining Leicestershire for the third time, Naveen stated he feels at home there and is looking forward to a strong season in 2019.
“I’m already eagerly anticipating the upcoming season. The past two years have been wonderful, and I now feel at home in Leicestershire. From the captain to the coach to every player in the locker room, the guys have been really supportive of me, and I think we have a team that can win.
I feel confident going into the following year because of how our squad played in the final five games of the current season (2022). In a formal statement, Naveen-ul-Haq made a statement.
With only eight victories from their 14 group-stage games, The Foxes (Leicestershire) placed sixth in the North Group standings at the end of the previous campaign. However, re-signing Naveen strengthens their bowling team ahead of the upcoming season, and Claude Henderson, director at Leicestershire, thinks that the club has won big by bringing in a player of Naveen’s calibre.
“The club scored a major victory by being able to re-sign someone of Naveen’s calibre. We are happy to see his dedication to Leicestershire and excited to see what he can do in a Foxes shirt next year because his performances have drawn a lot of interest from other counties,” said Henderson.
