ILT20: Given that the UAE is not a Full Member of the international organisation, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the UAE-based franchise league International LeagueT20 (ILT20) will not be given the status of List A T20. The ICC further reaffirmed that there would be no exception for the league.
The opening match of the inaugural ILT20, between the Dubai Capitals and the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, is scheduled for January 13. Numerous well-known cricketers have expressed interest in participating in the competition, which will help it become a magnificent and successful event. No participation in the competition, however, will be noted on their official T20 records because, in accordance with ICC rules, leagues hosted by non-Full Members nations are not eligible for a formal List A T20 classification.
ILT20 has not given List A T20 status: ICC
An ICC representative told The Cricketer, “The UAE ILT20 has been sanctioned by the ICC, but List A T20 status will not be conferred to this event since it does not match the criteria under the regulations.”
The league will undoubtedly keep viewers hooked to their TVs and closely following their favourite teams. The elite competition will show to be an excellent venue for local players to gain experience competing against well-known players.
