2nd ODI: A humorous event that occurred in Ranchi on Sunday involved Javagal Srinath, the match referee for the second One-Day International between India and South Africa. Srinath neglected to turn over the coin at the coin toss while he was standing close to the replacement captains for India and South Africa, Shikhar Dhawan and Keshav Maharaj, respectively.
At the time of the toss, the match referee’s responsibility is to award the toss to the home team’s captain, in this case, Dhawan. However, Srinath appeared to be engrossed in his own thoughts because he completely neglected to remove the coin from his pocket.
After realising his error, Srinath removed the coin from his pocket and gave it to Dhawan. The two captains, however, didn’t let this chance pass to make fun of Srinath.

Two changes were made to Team India for the second ODI of the series. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravi Bishnoi were replaced on the team by Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar.
When it came time to toss, India’s acting captain Dhawan said: “Actually, we would have started bowling first since the second inning would have dew, and we plan to take advantage of that. We have two changes. Today’s debutants are Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar. Ravi Bishnoi and Ruturaj are absent.”
India is behind 1-0 in the three-match ODI series after the visitors won the first encounter. Despite Sanju Samson’s valiant effort with the bat, the hosts could only muster 140 runs in their attempt to reach their 250-run mark.
Ruturaj Gaikwad received a lot of flak for his snarling top-order performance in the first ODI. The team management’s decision to sit him for the second ODI appears to have been influenced by his performance in the first.
