Recently, Misbah-ul-Haq spoke out against the Pakistan Cricket Board’s potential appointment of Mickey Arthur. It’s extremely possible that Arthur, who led Pakistan’s national team as coach from 2016 to 2019, will return in a new capacity.
The front-runner to lead Pakistan’s men’s team is a former cricketer who is South African and Australian. A few weeks earlier, the PCB’s negotiations with Arthur ended in failure, but the board’s perseverance allowed them to ultimately achieve a settlement.
The news was not received well by Misbah, who accused the ex-players from Pakistan of undermining the system to the point where the board was forced to search abroad for the best coaching talent.

“I hold our own system accountable because it has so many weak lines that anyone might take advantage of it. We are to blame for creating a negative reputation for our own people by disrespecting and discrediting them,” Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Misbah remarked.
The PCB has long engaged in a discussion over international and domestic coaches. Misbah-ul-Haq believes that the board and former players are to blame for Pakistan’s inability to rely only on homegrown talent.
