PCB: The coaching staff that will lead the team in preparation for the next New Zealand series was revealed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday, April 7. Notably, Grant Bradburn will serve as the temporary head coach and will oversee the staff; he is expected to arrive in Lahore on April 11 to assume the position.
The new, full member-coaching panel is yet to be formally announced by the country’s cricket governing body. Following the conclusion of the New Zealand series, the management will make a decision after the pertinent hiring process, which is now underway.
As the batting coach for the national cricket team, former South Africa international Andrew Puttick will also assume the helm. In a media release, PCB stated that the board is finalising the names of the individuals who would lead the new project after the series against the Kiwis.
According to a PCB statement obtained by Cricbuzz, “The PCB will confirm the Pakistan team management for the post-New Zealand series following the conclusion of the requisite recruitment processes, which are currently ongoing.”
Bradburn has previously worked as the Head of High-Performance coaching and as the fielding coach for Pakistan in 2018. After Ramiz Raja was elected president of the PCB in 2021, he subsequently resigned from his position.
Umar Gul to serve as bowling coach
Umar Gul, a former Pakistani pacer, was also retained by the board to serve as the team’s bowling coach. Also, before of the series, Abdul Rehman was designated as the “assistant to head coach.”
In the just-finished three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, the pair served as coaches. Starting on April 14, the Men in Green take on New Zealand in five T20Is and as many ODIs, with the final 50-over game taking place on May 7.
