Women’s Tour of England: Because the women’s cricket competition at the 2023 Asian Games has been confirmed, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed a revised schedule for Sri Lanka women’s upcoming tour to England.
Notably, the first T20I will be played on August 31 in Hove, and the second and third T20Is will follow on September 2 and September 6, respectively, in Chelmsford and Derby. The first One Day International will occur in Chester-le-Street on September 9; the second will be played in Northampton on September 12; and the third and final match will occur in Leicester on September 14.
Notably, Hove, initially planned to host an ODI, will now host the opening T20I of the series, while Canterbury, which was previously set to host an ODI, will not host any games.
The series is crucial for Sri Lanka as they intend to get ready for the forthcoming Asian Games, which will start on September 23 and end on October 8; Sri Lanka will need to win the series in order to do that. Chamari Athapaththu, the captain of Sri Lanka, was in outstanding form during the just-finished Fairbreak International Tournament 2023. The 33-year-old made 281 runs in seven matches to finish as the tournament’s top run scorer. As the second-leading wicket-taker of the competition, she also took 12 wickets.
The next Ashes, scheduled to start on June 22 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, will be England’s focus. Beginning on July 1, the two nations will play a three-match T20I and ODI series following the conclusion of the lone Test match.
