The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 accepted Binura Fernando to take Dilshan Madushanka’s place in the Sri Lankan team, according to a statement from the ICC.
After Madushanka was forced to withdraw due to a torn quad muscle, Fernando, who has participated in nine T20Is, was selected as a replacement.
Fernando will depart from Sri Lanka and arrive in Australia to join the rest of the team.

Lahiru Kumara and Pramod Madushan, two Sri Lankan seamers, can take his spot in the starting eleven. Another replacement is left-arm quick Binura Fernando.
Sri Lanka will play round one to advance to the ICC T20 World Cup’s Super 12 stage, where they will face UAE, Netherlands, and Namibia, despite their recent Asia Cup victory.
