Pak vs Eng: The opening of a three-match Test series between Team Pakistan and the guests England will begin on Thursday, December 1. However, the first Test match may be affected by rumours that English squad members have become ill with an unidentified infection.
Before the first Test match in Rawalpindi, it is understood that the two sides’ officials are debating a 24-hour delay in the game. There hasn’t been any formal confirmation of this, though. Approximately 13–14 members of the Three Lions team have reportedly contracted an unidentified virus that was initially mistaken for “food poisoning,” according to reports.
The ECB spokeswoman acknowledged the illness cases and that the players had been vomiting and having diarrhoea. Additionally, it has been established that none of the instances are connected to the Covid-19 virus.
Some of the players reported feeling unwell earlier on Tuesday, and they were told to stay in their rooms to prevent the infection from spreading. Ben Stokes, the team’s captain, and James Anderson, a seasoned bowler, are among those impacted.
Don’t assume it has to do with eating, advises Joe Root.
Joe Root also showed symptoms, but he has made a full recovery because on Wednesday he trained with the team. Before the first Test, Root told the media that the team is in an “unfortunate” situation.
“We regret that we are in this predicament, but we do not believe it is caused by food. The problem is that we have been attempting to take a chef with us on vacation for a few years now. The first chance we’ve got to do it is now. We believe that from a nutrition and performance standpoint, we are trying to do everything we can to optimise ourselves and be in the best possible position to compete,” Root added, pointing out that even Premier League and Championship teams have their own chefs.
