Lanka T10 League: The T10 league has officially arrived in Sri Lanka. It is thought to be the quickest format and the future of cricket. The “Lanka T10 League” was formally announced by Sri Lanka Cricket on Sunday, November 20.
Numerous cricketing boards have been considering starting their own version of the league since the introduction of the Abu Dhabi T10. Sri Lanka has now announced a T10 league, making it the first full-member country among all cricketing nations to do so. In addition, the tournament will feature contests for both men’s and women’s teams.
Six men’s teams and four women’s teams will compete in the league, and each team will be named after a city in Sri Lanka, much like the Lanka Premier League. According to a statement by T10 Global Sports Media, the league’s official announcement was made by Sri Lanka Cricket’s President Shammi Silva, Honorary Secretary Mohan de Silva, Chairman of TTen Global Sports Shaji Ul Mulk, and COO TTen Global Sports Rajeev Khanna.

The Honorary President of Sri Lanka Cricket said, “The introduction of the fastest cricketing competition in Sri Lanka is undoubtedly a great addition to our cricketing calendar, and we are happy to be a part of the forward journey of the game, which continues to evolve to be on par with the changing dynamics in the global sporting arena. I wish to commend TTen Global Sports for its role in this latest initiative.
According to Mohan de Silva, Honorary Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket, “We are extremely happy to announce the launch of the Lanka T10 League, which is the shortest format of the game. I am confident that this competition will provide entertainment and excitement to the fans, quality competition for the players, and valuable exposure for the stakeholders.
Venues in Kandy and Hambantota are likely to host the matches of the first event, however, the dates have not yet been determined. Each team will be granted a 16-man roster, with a maximum of six foreign players permitted to play. Additionally, it is known that SLC will attempt to stage the event in June of next year, with the LPL scheduled for a window in August 2023.
