Richest Cricket League: With the introduction of the worldwide league gaming concept in recent decades, several sports have witnessed a tremendous metamorphosis. Football in the illustrious English Premier League (EPL) has been one of the best examples. Now, something will occur in many sports fans’ minds when it comes to this prestigious competition. Yeah, the significant contribution made by foreign investors who pour a lot of money into the prestigious league, especially the Middle East.
Notably, well-known clubs with owners from nations like the UAE and Saudi Arabia include Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Sheffield United. In addition to already playing a significant role in Formula One, Saudi Arabia has recently increased its investment in sports other than football, such as golf. The LV golf tournament served as the most recent illustration. As a result, the Arabian government plans to make significant investments to unlock the potential of cricket in the area.
Similar to the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL), the Saudi Arabian government is attempting to establish the richest cricket league in the world called the “Saudi Arabian League” in the Gulf region with assistance from none other than the BCCI. According to The Age, the Arabian representatives have allegedly been in discussions with the Indian board for more than a year about creating the “World’s richest cricket league.”
But, as of the right moment, the BCCI forbids Indian athletes from competing in other overseas leagues. Yet with so much interest from Saudi Arabia, it’s possible that the board will eventually consider permitting its players to compete internationally. Strangely, the league needs sanction from the ICC (International Cricket Council) as well as several important cricketing nations like Australia to make it materialise. Even so, the Saudi Arabian government has expressed interest in cricket in the past, according to ICC chairman Greg Barclay.
“I suppose cricket would be appealing to them if you consider the other sports they have participated in,” he remarked. “Cricket would be a great sport for Saudi Arabia given their progress in the field more generally. Given their regional presence and interest in investing in sports, cricket would seem like a natural choice,” Barclay said.
