Red Ball Cricket: According to Curran, “I feel like it is the appropriate choice for my body and for my mental health.”
The 27-year-old England cricketer Tom Curran has been dealing with injuries for a while. He just lately declared his intention to prioritise white-ball cricket over the longer version of the game. The decision to discontinue playing red-ball cricket may help Curran streamline his career because of several injuries throughout the years.
Tom Curran, the oldest of the Curran brothers, has played for numerous teams in the game’s shortest format. In addition to representing teams in the Indian Premier League’s Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals, he has worn the jerseys of Surrey in the Vitality Blast.
For Curran, it would be impossible to play in all game formats while maintaining such a full schedule. One of the main causes of his temporary break from red-ball cricket is his busy schedule.
I haven’t made this choice hastily: Tom Curran
Tom Curran, who is now playing for the Desert Vipers in the ILT20, will begin competing in the Pakistan Super League as early as next month. For the time being, the Englishman will only concentrate on white-ball cricket.
“I’ve had a lot of time, and although the past several years have not been easy for me, I haven’t rushed into this decision. There are some decisions in life that, in my opinion, you will never be completely certain about, and this is unquestionably one of them. But in the situation I’m in right now, I believe it’s the best choice for my bodily and mental health.”
According to Tom, who was mentioned by The Cricketer, “I’m absolutely not ruling out playing red-ball cricket again in the future, and I feel like I have unfinished business in this format for both Surrey and England.”
Alec Stewart, the director of cricket for Surrey, publicly backed Curran’s choice to take this extended vacation from red-ball cricket because he, too, is eager to watch Curran play in the T20 season.
