RCB Captain: Fascinatingly, Ponting was accompanied by his son Fletcher William Ponting, who appeared enthralled upon first meeting the Indian star.
The Indian Premier League, which lasts almost two months and features some of the greatest players in cricket, stands out each year as one of the sport’s biggest spectacles. When the IPL first began in 2008, it included many players who were hugely influential figures in the sport.
In the first few years of the wealthy league, legends of the game such as Sachin Tendulkar, Lasith Malinga, Glenn McGrath, and Ricky Ponting competed both with and against one another. Fast forward 16 years and athletes like Malinga and Ponting are still active in the game, but their positions have drastically changed.
Malinga is the fast bowling coach for the Rajasthan Royals, while Ponting is the head coach of the Delhi Capitals. The legends of the past meeting the current superstars of the game who are lighting up the stage in the IPL is intriguing now that the roles have been flipped.
On the sidelines of the IPL, Ponting recently met former RCB captain Virat Kohli. It’s interesting to note that Ponting was accompanied by his son Fletcher William Ponting, who seemed enthralled by the Indian star.
The Delhi Capitals posted a video of their encounter on social media, and it was evident that Ponting’s kid was awestruck by Kohli and hesitant to approach him. The video’s description said, “Jab Ricky Met Kohli, Extended Cameo: Ricky Jr.” by Caps.
In the meantime, the current edition is not going well for either RCB or Delhi. In contrast to Delhi, who have lost all four of their games thus far, RCB has won one game and lost two. Delhi’s star Rishabh Pant appears to be absent, as the David Warner-led team is now having trouble getting going.
