WIPL: The Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) has a lucrative deal available for interested partners, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The owners of the franchises will receive 80% of the earnings for the first five years, according to the Invitation To Tender (ITT) issued by the top cricket authority (2023-27).
This month, the BCCI published an Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the ownership and management of a WIPL franchise. For a total of INR 5,00,000 plus any relevant Goods and Services Tax, the ITT is accessible. The clauses and terms have now been made public, along with tempting offers for those who are interested.
The revenue-sharing formula will be 80-20 in favour of the franchises during the first five years of the competition. It will be 60-40 for the next five years, then 50-50 from 2033 to 2037, following a similar strategy to the men’s IPL. The aforementioned income will primarily come from league sponsorship agreements and media rights, which will be up for bid on January 16 of this month.
At no time will BCCI communicate with player agents; instead, it will only deal directly with State Associations.
Five teams will compete in the WIPL’s debut season, which will start this March. After the first three years, a new side will be featured in the league. Up to January 21st, the aforementioned ITT is for sale; however, a consortium won’t be permitted to acquire a club if they don’t have a net worth of Rs. 1000 crores.
The basic price for capped players ranges from Rs 30 to Rs 50 lakh, while for uncapped players, it ranges from Rs 10 to Rs 20 lakh. The player auction is scheduled to take place in February. The board has made it plain where it stands on the auction; it has said that it will only speak with state associations and will not entertain discussions with any player agents.
“Please take note that BCCI will not communicate with player agents or managers at any point throughout this process; instead, BCCI will only interact directly with the State Associations. If a player violates this criterion, their name will be immediately removed from the Auction Register and/or Auction List (as appropriate), unless BCCI determines differently in its sole discretion,” a BCCI statement said.
