WTC 2023 Final: Both Australian and Indian players are alert since the World Test Championship (WTC) Final is just around the corner. Because of the game’s importance, people from all across the world have been offering ideas and recommendations.
Speaking to the ICC recently, Indian wicketkeeper KS Bharat made an intriguing disclosure. Bharat said that the great Indian wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni had given him some helpful advice prior to the crucial match with Australia in the WTC Final. The 29-year-old said that when playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he chatted with Dhoni and picked his brain on how to adjust to the prevailing English circumstances and what would be most effective for any wicketkeeper in them.
The Indian wicketkeeper told ICC, “It was a very good conversation and there were a lot of insights from that.”
Due to Dhoni’s alertness and the strategies he follows when keeping wicket, the wicketkeeper-batter also identified the former Indian captain as one of the finest wicketkeepers in these difficult situations.
“Being a keeper is a thankless profession, therefore you need to be committed and passionate about it. You have 90 overs on a Test day and must focus ball by ball, therefore you must accept the obstacles, embrace them, and have a strong desire to help the team,” according to Bharat.
The choice to include Bharat on the team will be significant.
Only four Test matches for India have featured the 29-year-old, all of which were earlier this year in India against Australia. Bharat was given a spot in the team due to his skill with the gloves, but his batting performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series was lacklustre.
Ishan Kishan, who came to England after a respectable IPL season, is the second option for wicketkeeping in the Indian team. If Kishan is called up, he would be making his debut in the championship game because he hasn’t represented India in the longest version of the game. India might start the 24-year-old hitter in the team for the WTC Final due to his propensity to win games.
