Ajax and Lisandro Magallán have mutually decided to dissolve the expiring contract of the defender with immediate effect. Thus ending the relationship that had started at the beginning of 2019.
Magallán came over from Boca Juniors four years ago for an amount of nine million euros, but was never able to impress in Amsterdam. The Argentinian was loaned out to Alavés, Crotone and Anderlecht, after which he returned to Amsterdam at the start of this season. He played two more matches in the Eredivisie as a substitute, so that he played a total of nine matches in the main force of the team from Amsterdam.
Ajax says goodbye to an Argentinian born in La Plata. While a fellow townsman from Magallán will soon come to Ajax. The deal with Gerónimo Rulli will soon be official, the goalkeeper comes over from Villarreal.
Lisandro Magallán’s new club
Lisandro Magallán quickly found a new club after his departure from Ajax. Elche has signed the Argentinian defender for the rest of the season.
Ajax announced on Thursday afternoon that Magallán’s contract has been dissolved. A few hours later, the former multimillion-dollar purchase has already surfaced in Spain. At the last of La Liga, the 29-year-old mandekker has to help reduce the number of goals against. Pablo Machín’s team has the most passed defense in the Primera División.
For Magallán, Elche is his second employer in Spain. In the 2019/20 season, Ajax already rented him out to Alavés, for which he played eighteen times. It is more matches than the former Boca Juniors player played in Amsterdam. On behalf of Ajax, which paid nine million euros for him in 2019, the counter got stuck at nine official matches.
The last we heard from Ajax’s manager about the defender was when Schreuder responded at the press conference to the question of whether Magallán has a future at the club. He answered, “There is always a future for every player under contract,”
