Al-Nassr 3-2 Al-Shabab: Cristiano Ronaldo continues to compete for the national title in Saudi Arabia in his first months in the service of Al-Nassr. The Portuguese star took matters into his own hands on Tuesday: with a nice goal he single-handedly decided the meeting with Al Shabab: 3-2.
Ronaldo retains chance at Saudi title after nice winning goal
That was quite a denouement in Riyadh, the capital of the country. The Argentinian Cristian Guanca had already taken care of the visitors 0-1 and 0-2, which can be found in third place in the Saudi Professional League, a spot below Al-Nassr. To prevent the lead on number three from shrinking, Al-Nassr had to move. And it did. Before the break, Anderson Talisca provided the connection goal.
Five minutes after the break it was Abdulrahman Ghareeb who made it 2-2. After which the last word was up to Ronaldo. The attacker shook an opponent off the body, therefore had room to lash out and curled the ball beautifully into the far corner from about twenty meters. It turned out to be the winning goal for the home team, which is still in the race for the national title two rounds from the end.
Competitor Al-Ittihad FC also won its match and retained a margin of three points. Actually 3.5 points: with an equal number of points. Al-Ittihad is champion on the basis of mutual results against Al-Nassr. Ronaldo’s mission is difficult, but not yet impossible.
Ronaldo foresees a bright future for Saudi competition
Cristiano Ronaldo has given much needed attention to the Saudi Pro League. After the important victory of his Al-Nassr over Al Shabab (3-2).
According to the Portuguese superstar, Saudi Arabia’s league has the potential to become one of the top five leagues in the world. “The competition is getting stronger,” he said at SSC after the victory. “Next year will be even better. Step by step, this league will be among the top five leagues in the world. But they need time, star players and infrastructure.”
“But I believe this country has great potential,” Ronaldo continued. “They have great people here and the competition is going to be great in my opinion.”
Thanks to Ronaldo’s winning goal, Al-Nassr is approaching leader Ittihad FC to three points. There are still two games to go in the Middle Eastern country.
