Alisson Becker: Liverpool as in the case with the Merseyside derby for years now went into the fixture as favourites. However, the club faced a resilient Everton side.Who many would argue were the better team on Saturday.
Despite LFC dominating much of the possession, the Toffees were able to create problems. With that being said, the contest ended with neither team getting on the scoresheet.
It was the goalkeepers who were the pick of the bunch. Both Alisson and Pickford were at their very best. The number 1s prevented their team from conceding to ensure a point.
This is what Alisson Becker had to say following yet another eventful derby: “We didn’t win so the answer (when asked if the Reds did enough to win the derby), is not.
“We did quite well, we improved our performance. In respect of the last matches, we created chances, so many clear chances. We could have scored but the opponent as well had their opportunities.
“We defended well, enough to keep the clean sheet. That is the common goal for the team, we work hard for that. For today we get a point and just keep on going.
“We have to be there for the challenge to block the ball. They did that and I was prepared to make quick movements to make the save.
“Not always do you get the results that you want but you have to fight for that, you need to have consistency in your performances, and we are getting there. We are improving in respect of the last games we had, each game we are improving a step.
“Players are coming back from injuries so that is really important and that is the good side of everything.”
