After his breaching lockdown rules led to him be dropped by Watford on the weekend, Watford forward Andre Gray publicly apologized.
For the Premier League match, Watford was defeated against Southampton, on Sunday.
However, Gray and his teammates Nathaniel Chalobah and Domingos Quina were omitted from this match, after reports surfaced that he was holding a birthday party in his home.
The forward wrote on his Instagram Story: “I wanted to wait to make [a] public apology as my first apology needed first to be to my teammates and staff for not being able to participate in yesterday’s game and the risk that I might have caused!
“I just want to reiterate that it wasn’t a late-night party like what’s being portrayed and only a gathering of friends that turned my birthday into a kind of football tournament! I understand my responsibilities and I will do whatever it takes to get it right, excuse me again!”
