Santi Cazorla has revealed that he will be joining up with ex Spanish teammate Xavi at Al-Saad a Doha-based team. Earlier this month, Al-Saad had announced a 1-month extension for Xavi and now have announced that an agreement has been reached with Santi Cazorla. 36-year-old Santi was given a guard of honour by the Villareal and Eibar players at full time.
Santi said he would love to come back to Arsenal someday and join Arteta’s coaching staff. “I don’t know what my legacy is [at Arsenal],” Cazorla said in May. “You have to ask the fans, but I want to thank everyone. ‘I don’t know what I will do next, maybe a coach, maybe a sports director, but I would like to come back.”
Santi Cazorla has made an impressive comeback for his second stint with the Yellow Submarine where he returned to in 2018. The Spanish superstar has scored 11 goals and created 9 others for his teammates. His form even earned him a recall to the Spanish national team at the age of 35. He was going to be a part of the Spain squad for the Euro 2020 before being postponed.
Meanwhile, Unai Emery is favourite to take up the managerial seat at Villareal next season. Emery managed rivals Valencia between 2008-12 after which he had taken up the Arsenal job before bring sacked in the summer. Club’s current manager Javi Calleja is set to depart after leading Villareal to a top 5 finish in the league.
When quizzed about his future this week, Calleja said: “I do not talk about my future. What happens will be decided by the club. I have a good relationship with the club, and I am grateful for the opportunity Villarreal have given me. I will continue to work hard for Villarreal, and let others make the decisions.”
