Villarreal 2-2 Atlético Madrid
Atlético Madrid knew they had to win at Villarreal to have a chance at second place. Nicolas Jackson made that mission a lot more difficult by opening the score on behalf of the home team in the ninth minute (1-1). Ángel Correa then turned the match around himself. The agile Argentinian scored twice on the instructions of Antoine Griezmann, who thus became the first Atlético player with fifteen goals and fifteen assists in a season (1-2).
Atlético seemed to be on its way to winning, but had to say goodbye to Axel Witsel twenty minutes before the end. The Belgian midfielder had to come in with a red card. Villarreal insisted in the final phase, came closer and closer to the equalizer and eventually succeeded. Jorge Pasqual struck in the 93rd minute and prevented Atlético from passing Real in the rankings. Los Colchoneros finish the season third.
Osasuna 2-1 Girona
The battle for seventh place and thus a ticket for the preliminary round of the Conference League promised to be very exciting. Osasuna, Girona, Bilbao and Rayo Vallecano were still hoping for a European adventure on the final day. The party took place at Estadio El Sadar, where Osasuna qualified for European football for the first time in sixteen years. Ante Budimir was the celebrated man with two goals. Reinier did something back on behalf of Girona, but the visitors did not get any further than that goal (2-1).
Real Mallorca 3-0 Rayo Vallecano
The first half remained goalless on Sunday in the Primera División match between Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano, but Mallorca took control of the game in the second half and eventually won 3-0. The first half was goalless.
Immediately after half-time, Vedat Muriqi asserted himself when he scored, on a pass from Daniel José Rodríguez Vázquez, to give Mallorca the lead. José Manuel Arias Copete increased the lead in the 71st minute with an assist from Kang-In Lee. Mallorca further increased their lead when Ángel Rodríguez scored, with an assist from Rodríguez Vázquez, in the 93rd minute.
In the last five games, Mallorca has three wins and two losses. While Rayo Vallecano has one win and four losses.
