Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is a big fan of Erik ten Hag. The French former international is impressed by what the former coach of Ajax has achieved at Manchester United in six months, he told Arsenal after the Premier League cracker.
Henry saw his beloved Arsenal win 3-2 against United on Sunday , but as an analyst at CBS Sports had compliments for Ten Hag. “Guys, what a different team Man United have become under Ten Hag,” said the former Gunners’ top striker. “To be honest, I’m a big fan of Ten Hag, I really like his way of working. He is the coach I recommended at Laporta after Koeman was fired from Barça. He’s a genius.”
Henry now sees this confirmed again at United, which offered good opposition to Arsenal on Sunday. “We saw a team that has been in development for three years against a team that has been in development for six months. And also a team that had a week of rest. And a team that had only two days of rest, but it was still the same. That surprised me. I expected Arsenal to completely dominate United, but United were in control in the first half,” he added.
Ten Hag’s more beautiful than Ferguson
Now that Ten Hag has made so much progress at United in six months. Henry thinks it won’t be long before The Red Devils fight for the title again. Give Ten Hag another year and support him on the transfer market and United will be a team to be reckoned with again. It is not meant disrespectfully towards Sir Alex, but if Ten Hag gets it right at United, they will play more attractive football than under Ferguson.
These are nice compliments for Ten Hag. Coming from a player who was involved in a fierce battle with United in his prime. In the years that Henry played for Arsenal (1999-2007), The Gunners were the main rivals in the Premier League. After retiring from Ferguson in 2013, United have been waiting for a league title for almost a decade. The last major prize also dates back to 2017, when José Mourinho won the Europa League and the League Cup.
