In official football news from the January transfer window, Aston Villa have confirmed signing Philippe Coutinho on a 6-month loan. The former Liverpool playmaker thus reunites with his old team-mate Steven Gerrard.
Villa have announced the signing of Coutinho from Barcelona for half a year, and will retain an option to buy.
He previously starred in the Premier League across five years at Anfield. His subsequent move to Barcelona was a failure and he now seeks to rediscover the spark he lost in Catalunya.
And now, the Brazil international will see out the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign at Villa Park.
Coutinho will be hoping to pick up where he left off, with Steven Gerrard as his coach rather than teammate.
