Azzurri head-coach Roberto Mancini appeared in an interview at the Social Football Summit. He joined the interview hosted by Matteo Marani alongside Daniele De Rossi.
He shared his joy of making it to the final four of the Nations League. However, he admitted he has still not got over the disappointment of not qualifying for the World Cup.
He also conveyed his optimism of channeling the disappointment towards the upcoming tournaments. He was hopeful of winning it all in 2026 as well.
“Without technology and with outstanding Italian champions, the game of football was completely different. Then the most advanced foreigners arrived. they are all. Italy has gained a lot of knowledge. In the gym, we were forced to practise “on sight” without any equipment. Over the years, technological advancements have greatly benefited mankind,” Azzurri head-coach Roberto Mancini said.
“We gave a justification for it; it’s critical to understand how to use them, but it only occurs sometimes. Football players should be aware that their time as players is limited and that in order to perform at a high level, they must always maintain their focus. Playing football is the best thing you can do, and you can even get paid for it. We must learn to deal with it because we have all made adjustments.
“We are working, but regrettably, we won’t feel better until December. My disappointment over not making the World Cup doesn’t go away. Although utterly unfair, failures must be accepted. We did not deserve to be left out of the World Cup, but sadly that is how it turned out. Nations’ Final Four? The boys gave it their all, but it wasn’t easy. Hungary is a highly vicious team, and England, with their magnificent roster, is in danger of winning the World Cup.”
