Barcelona are unbothered that PSG are preparing an offer for Catalans striker Lionel Messi. Barcelona are calm if PSG make Messi an offer if he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Messi’s Side of It
33-year-old Messi has scored 25 goals and made nine assists in 30 La Liga games this season.
The Argentine’s entourage claim Messi is awaiting offers from Barcelona. In the meantime, he has asked his father/agent Jorge to stave off talks until the season ends.
Negotiations will thus begin as the season ends, at which time Leo will make a final decision on his future.
Barca’s Side of It
Barcelona, on their part, want to convince Messi that staying in Catalonia is the best option for him.
Barça president Joan Laporta wants to bring in Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland to convince Messi that the club is serious.
Him and the club have promised him an inspiring project with plenty of young players.
Barcelona trust Messi and know that he will wait for an offer from the Catalan club and likely accept it.
Barcelona Are Calm if PSG Make Messi an Offer
Allegedly, PSG are giving Messi a 2+1 contract and are confident that in money, Barca cannot outbid him.
Mundo Deportivo however quotes Barcelona source explaining the club’s reaction to the news that PSG are preparing a contract for Messi.
And Barca are at peace with it: “Leo is the best player in the world whose contract is expiring and he has not yet signed a new deal with the club.”
“It’s normal that PSG are trying to take him away. They have money, they want to make their squad stronger. They have already said that if the opportunity to sign Messi arises, they will try to do so,” the club said.
Another source at the Catalan club commented on the situation: “They are trying to sign him, we have nothing to comment on. We are calm.”
