Part of the PSG supporters are done with Lionel Messi. The texts that circulate online leave nothing to be desired in terms of clarity. As far as many supporters are concerned, the Argentinian does not have to return to the Parc des Princes.
PSG supporters clearly show anger over Messi playing truant
For those who missed it: Messi missed a training session this week because he had to go to Saudi Arabia as an ambassador. Initially that Monday was a day off, but it was canceled by Christophe Galtier after Sunday’s embarrassing 1-3 defeat at home to Lorient. Messi still boarded the plane. PSG suspended its star player for two weeks.
As far as part of the supporters are concerned, La Pulga no longer has to play for their club afterwards. A group of hundreds of fans gathered at the stadium on Wednesday evening to protest with various slogans, including the unelevating chant “Messi, hijo de puta” (Messi, son of a b*tch). It can already be heard from various sides that the employment of the world champion in France will indeed be over this summer.
If so, Messi’s time in Paris has ended in failure. His transfer from Barcelona to PSG in the summer of 2021 caused an incredible stir, but even with arguably the best player of all time on board, PSG did not win the Champions League. And that was what it was all about. The fairytale marriage threatens to turn into a nasty divorce.
Deco in the picture as new technical director at Barcelona
Meanwhile Messi’s former club, Barcelona would like to have the vacancy for technical director filled by Deco. Several international sources report this on Wednesday afternoon. For Deco, it would be a return to the club he served as a player.
The fact that there is a vacancy was announced on Tuesday evening. Mateu Alemany will retire at Camp Nou. He will be gone after the upcoming transfer summer. And is reported to have already accepted an offer from Premier League club Aston Villa. Barcelona switched quickly, and according to El Mundo Deportivo, Deco will come to Barcelona next week to negotiate.
He knows the way to Joan Laporta’s office, because he has also been a guest there in his current capacity. The former Portuguese technician is currently active as an agent, including Barcelona player Raphinha in his portfolio. He will probably have to hand over the Brazilian to another agent if it actually comes to employment. Deco would be interested, reports the Catalan newspaper.
Deco played for Barcelona between 2004 and 2008, when he came over from FC Porto. With those two clubs he won the Champions League, in Portuguese service in 2004 and again two years later as a player for the Blaugrana. This was followed by two more years at Chelsea before he ended his career in Brazil, his native country that he ignored as an international player. Deco wore the red shirt of Portugal 75 times.
