Borussia Dortmund has responded through the club channels to the fuss that has arisen about acquisition Felix Nmecha. The German midfielder was discredited by alleged Twitter messages of a homophobic nature.
Dortmund responds to alleged homophobia of new acquisition Nmecha
On Monday it was announced that Borussia Dortmund will take over Nmecha from VfL Wolfsburg for 25 million euros. At an earlier stage, Dortmund supporters expressed their dissatisfaction with the transfer, because Nmecha would have posted homophobic and transphobic messages on social media in the past. “We are aware of that,” CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke and President Reinhold Lunow said in a statement.
He added, “We know that this impending transfer has also been criticised in recent days due to two internet posts shared by Felix. As a result, it was important for us to talk intensively with the player about his beliefs and values. Felix is very young, his religion is deeply rooted in him. And he – like all of us – is certainly not flawless.”
In those conversations, Dortmund has become convinced that Nmecha does fit the standards and values of the club. “He completely convinced us in the intensive conversations that he has no transphobic or homophobic beliefs. Felix himself has emphasised that he respects and loves all people, regardless of skin colour, religion or sexual orientation.”
Dream transfer beckons for Van de Ven: from Wolfsburg to Tottenham
A dream transfer for Micky van de Ven is in sight: Tottenham Hotspur and VfL Wolfsburg are in full talks about a transfer from the defender. The clubs hope to finalise the deal soon.
Van de Ven made no secret of the fact that the Premier League is a dream destination for him. He seems to be getting his way now. Van de Ven has already personally agreed with Tottenham and now it is up to the clubs to win the deal, various English media report. Liverpool and Bayern Munich were also recently associated with Van de Ven.
Van de Ven made the transfer from Volendam to Wolfsburg in the summer of 2021 for approximately 3.5 million euros. Van de Ven had some starting problems due to injuries. But quickly became an important player and missed only one league match last season.
If Van de Ven actually makes the move to Tottenham, Volendam will benefit. The club receives fifteen percent of the profit amount.
