Brazil manager Tite, recently appeared in an interview, where he discussed Vinicius’ dancing controversy. He encouraged his winger to ‘continue to be as happy as he is’.
This was in response to the racist behaviour by Atleti fans against the Brazilian. The forward’s dancing was subject to abuse by the section of fans.
“I want to discuss this issue publicly despite not usually getting involved in these things,” Brazil manager Tite said.
“I have told the boys to continue to play, enjoy and fulfil their talents to continue dancing for people who love football. Dance, shine and continue to be you in your essence, that is the essence – the joy, the vibrations, the celebration.
“They danced in the fixture at Maracana against Chile. It was in no way an act of provoking the opponents, it was just a way to celebrate and express joy. They should continue dancing and remain happy doing so”
Following this Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin has described their fans as embarrassing.
“What the fans of our club did was unacceptable and it was an act of racism ,” he told Mundo Deportivo. “Such chants from a portion of the crowd embarasses us as a whole. They ruin the behaviour and image of our club and it disturbs others’ sentiments as well.”
