Chiellini Reminisces about the 2012 Final before Italy Face Spain
And Juventus and Italian international defender Giorgio Chiellini, who is making football news lately, has reflected on the upcoming clash.
“The memory and emotions [of winning the Euros] remain strong,” the Italian captain told the press, and AS reports it.
Chiellini then said: “It’s going to be a tough match, we have to be lucid at all moments of the game, with and without the ball.”
“And, of course, we have to respect Spain, we know their quality,” he remarked of their rivals.
He also revealed: “The 2012 final in Kyiv evokes my worst memories. We were not prepared for that game.
“The game that gives me the most satisfaction must be the one at the Euro-2020, but we dominated the most back in 2016. As for the players, I’ve never hidden my admiration for Sergio Ramos.
“I didn’t regret not having won anything at the European level before this summer, but…it’s hard to put into words…it [winning the Euros] has given me a real boost to still be here to keep playing and to also have the opportunity to really be involved in all of these matches.
“It’s given me a new lease of life.”
