UEFA is preparing to keep Juventus out of UEFA competitions next season. The questionable financial housekeeping is the reason.
UEFA preparations for expulsion of Juventus
Juventus achieved success in Italy last week in the fight against the penalty imposed for alleged financial offenses. The points deduction was canceled after the appeal and De Oude Dame was back in the battle for the Champions League tickets.
The question is whether Juventus will be active on the European stage next season, if a European ticket is won. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, UEFA is preparing a suspension of the Turin club with its own investigation. The evidence of the Italian judiciary serves as a basis for this.
The European association expects a final judgment to be reached at the end of June, with a penalty for Juventus as the outcome. But if the verdict is delayed, UEFA can switch if Juventus qualifies for a European tournament.
The suspension of the Old Lady then follows because of the violation of the Financial Fair Play agreements. In September 2022, UEFA made agreements with Juventus, but that settlement would then be based on the dubious financial balance of the Turin club.
Sore loser: Allegri makes himself known after Juve’s defeat against Napoli
You have good and bad losers. Massimiliano Allegri seems to belong to the latter kind. The Juventus trainer had a hard time accepting the defeat against Napoli. The Old Lady lost 0-1 on Sunday against the leader of the Serie A.
Giacomo Raspadori blasted Napoli to a tight victory in Turin in the third minute of extra time. That naturally led to great joy among the visitors, who can only theoretically miss out on the national title. On the other hand, grumpiness prevailed. Footage surfaced on Tuesday of a clearly frustrated Allegri.
The trainer of Juventus, which suffered a league defeat for the third time in a row, could not hide a grin. He then turned to Napoli’s bench. “Congratulations, you managed to win one Scudetto,” he snapped at the entourage of the visitors. Then he stormed into the tunnel.
The victory brought Napoli one step closer to the first national title in thirty years. The Neapolitans still need four points. With a favorable result on the other fields, the championship can even be secured next weekend.
